Moisture

Do you have unsightly moisture and condensation forming on the inside of your windows?

Drier windows, healthier home.

Condensation on windows isn’t just an inconvenience – it can lead to mould, mildew, and even damage to paint and timber frames. dual GLAZE® double glazing helps minimise moisture build-up by improving insulation, keeping your windows drier and your home healthier.

By reducing the risk of condensation, dual GLAZE® creates a more comfortable living environment, helping to prevent the conditions that encourage mould growth and dampness.

Less moisture. Less condensation. A healthier home with dual GLAZE®.

Managing moisture for a drier, healthier home

Did you know that everyday activities – cooking, showering, drying clothes, indoor plants, and even breathing – release around 8 litres of moisture into your home’s air every day? Without proper management, this moisture can lead to condensation, which encourages mould, mildew, and dampness.

dual GLAZE® double glazing helps reduce the risk of condensation by keeping window surfaces warmer, but for the best results, a combination of ventilation, dehumidification, and thermally efficient windows can help keep your home even drier.

How to reduce condensation in your home

1. Ventilation: Let moisture escape

Fresh air is one of the most effective ways to control moisture. Here’s how you can improve ventilation:

  • Open your windows slightly during the day to allow air to circulate and moisture to escape
  • Some window types let you lock them while still allowing passive ventilation – talk to us about Aluvent™ Passive Ventilation
  • When cooking, drying clothes, or showering, make sure steam can escape by using an extractor fan, opening a window, or using a ducted dryer
  • In newer, airtight homes, ventilation is even more important to prevent moisture build-up. HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems can replace damp indoor air with fresh, drier air from outside

2. Dehumidifiers: Actively remove moisture

Dehumidifiers are designed to extract moisture from the air, collecting water in a built-in container for easy disposal. They can be especially useful in damp areas like bedrooms, bathrooms, and basements.

3. Double glazed windows: Keep glass surfaces warmer

dual GLAZE® double glazing works by insulating your windows, keeping the inner glass surface warmer and reducing the chance of condensation forming. However, moisture will still be present in the home, so combining double glazing with good ventilation is key.

4. Thermally efficient window frames: Extra protection against moisture

Thermally efficient window frames help prevent heat loss through the frame, working alongside double glazing to reduce condensation and improve energy efficiency. Talk to us about our Southern41TM and Pacific52TM Thermal Systems.
