If you are on a budget and want to update your home with double glazing over time, deciding which windows to replace and when is an important decision.

Windows make up a large surface area of your living rooms and bedrooms, and this can play a large part in how warm and thermally efficient your home is.

big windows first, bedrooms, living spaces

  • Replacing the large windows and doors in your most used living spaces first gives you the most benefit up front as this is where you spend most of your time.
  • Bedrooms are next as this is where you sleep and is important to update, helping to remove unsightly condensation, reduce black mould build up and helping you stay warmer at night.
  • Last, look to rooms with less or infrequent use, laundries, garages, bathrooms. Whilst equally important for the overall efficiency of your home, these rooms can wait until the more important rooms have been completed.
  • Also consider the south side of your home, these rooms may fall into one of the above categories and it is important to elevate up the priority list if used frequently, or if a bedroom in use.
