There isn’t any coincidence in that we have chosen Fisher as our supplier of Aluminium, because of the high quality joinery and the designs also have numerous solutions for the window and door market. If those reasons weren’t sufficient it is also that Fisher’s founder Mr. Lou Fisher created the original and iconic Ranchslider™ that we all know and love. Without him the deck would never have been the same.
Fisher has been a part of the Traue Corporation for many years with Lester Traue starting manufacture in 1960 as the first to produce aluminium joinery in the region and one of the first in the country. Throughout the years there have been many advancements made and those have been matched stride for stride in the Gisborne Fisher Aluminium factory. Visit us and take a look.

A lot has happened over the past years. Lester finally went into retirement and sadly passed away in 2018. His legacy remains and the factories he created are still going strong. The company which he founded out of his shed has slowly grown and expanded over the years to it’s current residence in Palmerston Road, Gisborne. Keeping it in the family Kath Kitchen took over the management of the company early 2000’s bringing with her knowledge of kitchens and architectural draughting.
The factories have had their trials and tribulations. One major event that occurred, changing the direction of the company was the complete devastation of the timber factory and the gutting of the aluminium factory by fire. On the evening of 12th September 1997 the timber factory was set alight by arsonists and the firefighters took four hours to get the fire under control and put the fire out. Normally a devastating blow to the then 70 year old veteran, Lester recuperated and reconstructed the factory with Kath’s organisation and leadership.
The Traue corporation has not only been a major part of the Gisborne history but has an active part in it’s construction and growth. One of the first vehicles used in the company is now a part of the Gisborne Transport and Technology museum. The buildings Traue Joinery and Fisher Aluminium have been involved with include – Gisborne Hospital, Gisborne Fire Station re-development, Portside Hotel out fitting, Harbourview Apartments, Emerald Hotel and many private residences.
Every year we showcase a fantastic array of products that demonstrate what can be achieved whether your budget be modest or grand.
